Today we conclude a series that covers all the Invader factions in the upcoming wargame Earth vs the Invaders. Set in the 1950's, Earth is an asymmetrical wargame where one player takes control of the civilian defenders and National Guard of Anytown, America while their opponent controls the hideous beings bent on destroying all we hold dear! While the Human Forces stay consistent, the choice of Invader faction will significantly alter the game. Each force has been designed to provide a different, interesting tactical challenge that will keep both players on their toes. The Culture: OverviewThe Culture is the strangest threat that Human Forces have yet to face! Inspired by classic 50's movies like The Blob and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Culture is a shapeless substance controlled by a powerful and relentless being which has come to the Earth with only one goal: consume! The Culture allows an all new way to utilize the Reinforcements system that is a core part of Earth vs the Invaders. Instead of bringing new units onto the board, the Culture can heal units or even upgrade the ever present Controller, a sinister being that, left undestroyed, can become unstoppable! The Culture: UnitsThe Culture commands a strange roster of gelatinous horrors which are mostly melee-oriented. Each unit has a particular special ability that makes it a threat to humanity. The Controller is a unique unit that The Culture always starts the game with. This floating being is at the center of the Culture's invasion and other units may spawn from it. Over the course of the game, Reinforcement points can be spent to upgrade the Controller into something completely unstoppable. Large Blobs are deadly vs human infantry and when destroyed they split into two Small Blobs. The Mind Melter has no offensive ability of its own but can control one enemy unit per turn, subverting the will of the weak minded. Human forces will not anticipate the attack of the Replacements until it is too late! These pop people appear human until they draw close to the enemy and assimilate them. The Giant Amoeba is the Culture's most resilient organelle and can absorb any firepower thrown at it. If you're ready to grow your own Culture, I have suggestions for models in my article on building an army for Earth vs the Invaders.
